I LOVE COCONUT OIL

EN: I love love love coconut oil and it definitely has so many reasons to be that popular. I use it for everything. In cooking it’s very good for baking, stir-frys or as a dairy free replacement to butter. Also I do use it as an eye-makeup remover and as a completely natural lotion for my skin and for my hair! Coconut is an antibacterial, and anti fungal. This makes coconut a friend to your immune system because it can help kill bacteria and viruses.

Yes, coconut oil is almost 90 percent saturated fat, but not all sat fats are created equal. Coconut oil has “medium chain fatty acids” which are easily metabolized by the body and not stored. Also, it has more neutral effect on heart health when compared to longer-chain saturated fats found in meats and dairy products.

Cold pressed coconut oil have more antioxidants as well as a stronger coconut flavor and aroma, great for eating and baking.

In recipes, coconut oil can be substituted 1:1 for butter, margarine, shortening or lard. I suggest that when you incorporate coconut oil into your diet, you replace the current fat in your diet with coconut oil, not adding it on top of other fats.

RAW LEMON AND LIME CAKE BY SOLAMITA

Hey peeps!

You might have noticed that I stopped posting here. Well I did that for a reason. First of all, I would like to move to another platform, which is soon going to happen, so there will be some changes with my blog. Secondly, when you see adverts here on this site, I promise, it’s not mine. This platform is doing this in order to maintain it’s existence, which is again one of the reasons why I would like to move.

But before this happens I do want to share my amazing recipe that I just recently created!!! Hope you’ll like it. It’s completely raw :)

Crust:

  • 6 BIG medjool dates (soaked for about 20 minutes in a warm water and pitted)
  • 1 and a half cup of cashews (soaked for 4 or more hours)
  • Half cup of unsweetened shredded coconut
  • Dash of Agave Syrup/ Honey/ Stevia/ Maple Syrup
  •  Zest of 1 lime

Filling:

  • 2 cups cashews (soaked for 4 hours or more)]
  • Half cup pistachios
  • 3 big table spoons of Agave Syrup/ Honey/ Stevia/ Maple Syrup
  • Lemon juice from 5 lemons
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • Half cup of coconut milk
  • 1 tsp. organic vanilla extract

My filling is in two different colors, the one is natural that you get blending all the ingredients together and the ‘green’ one is done by adding a little bit of Spirulina.

How to make it?

Blend all ingredients together in a food processor, until it comes together and then place the mass into the cake tin and put it into the fridge until the filling is ready. Repeat the same steps with the filling, blend it until it’s smooth. Put it on the crust that you already made by also smoothing out the top. Decorate it with blended pistachios and lime slices, set in the fridge overnight before eating.

Sveiki mano mylimieji!

Galbūt pastebėjote, kad aš nustojau post‘inusi čia. Tai padariau dėl keleto priežasčių. Visų pirma, mano blog‘as bus perkeliamas į kitą platformą, todėl bus šiek tiek pakeitimų.

Skanaus.

SICK FOODS

Everyone around me (including me of course) is getting sick! Fortunately, I almost killed that devil, but it took me a week to do so. I just want to share some tips that always helps me to fight the flu.

When I get sick I do always feel like dying, everything hurts and it gets even worse when I have a high temperature. Then it’s better not to eat at all, because body is spending energy making you feel better again, trying to fight that flu. For about two days I always stay in bed like a vegetable. When I feel a little better, I always try to eat very healthy and nutritious foods that would help to fuel my body for that fight.

My top foods when sick:

1.Ginger- you can easily make your own ginger tea by just pouring boiling water over slices of ginger and honey.

2. Honey-this is very good for sore throat, always gives a relief. And one more benefit is that it’s very delicious.

3. Spicy foods- very good remedy indeed when you need to clear your sinuses.

4. Bananas- very easy for stomach, you will get loads of nutrients and your stomach won’t have to do much digesting that banana!

5. Orange juice- when you are sick it’s better to choose orange juice, not an actual fruit, because it is harder to digest. Of course, choose natural juices 100% pure fruit. Vitamins. Note: don’t drink cold!!!

6. Lemon- don’t have to outline anything, everyone knows, it always is a superfood.

7. Garlic and Onion- perfect for soups that are easy to digest.

This is some of the foods that I always always eat when I am sick and it helps me a lot.

Some tea suggestions:

1.Linden blossom tea (100% natural leaves)

2.Natural Thyme tea (100% natural leaves)

I do like to mix them both together if I have a high temperature and a sore throat. Works perfectly well.

3. Ginger and lemon

With every tea option I do always add a tablespoon of honey, because it relieves cough and promotes perspiration.

Hope that helped. Don’t wish anyone to get sick, but if you are sick then try your best to fight that devil!!!

Hugs xxx

HEALTHY CREPES AND FOLDING OPTIONS

Some of you asked me to post healthy crepes recipe. So there you go! The traditional way is to use the all-purpose flour. But! We are trying to make everything better and healthier. So try this instead:

You will need (for one person, if more-double the amounts accordingly):

  • 1 egg (if you are against egg yolks you can use two egg whites instead)
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. raw organic cacao (to give that brown colour)
  • 1 banana
  • 1/3 cup oats (you can buy them blended or blend yourself! )
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 4 strawberries
  • anything else you like for topping

Directions:

1. Blend oats, cacao and cinnamon together into a powder, this is going to be your flour!
2. Mix an egg (or two egg whites) in a separate bowl and add almond milk. Blend it all or mix really well!
3. Add your blended oats (flour) to your egg bowl-blend/mix everything together!
4. Take your batter and pour into a pan on low-medium heat. Just a thin thin thin layer!
5. After you see mini bubbles form on top, flip it! After some time you will be able to flip it in the air haha, promise! P.S. You don’t have to fully bake them, just make sure they are not sticky anymore and that they have a shape.
6. Now fill up your crepe with your chosen ingredients. I cut a banana into half (horizontal) and put a little nuttela (1teaspoon), then roll it up! You can experiment with it: put some berries, coconut shaves, etc.
7. When you have your rolls ready, put them back to the pan and bake it until it gets a little crispier. You will see, simple as that! :)
8. Then put hot crepes on the plate and play with toppings. I always use a fat free Greek Yogurt or honey and lots of strawberries. Yum!!!
It’s a very lean recipe using natural ingredients. Perfect meal if you don’t want something too heavy. And you can easily wow your friends or family with it, because it gives you a freedom to be creative with serving (it can be sooo breath taking haha)!
By the way. There are many folding options. I will list some below!Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of my final result, will do some next time especially for you!

Folding Options:

Fold-Over:

Place the crepe with the best side down. Put the filling in a line down the center of the crepe. Fold the right side just past the middle and then do the same with the left. This method shows the filling at the ends.

Crepe Suzette Fold:

Place the crepe best side down. Spoon filling into the center of the crepe. Fold in half. Fold in half again forming triangle four layers thick.

Pocket Fold

Place the crepe best side down. Spoon filling in center of crepe. Fold both sides over filling, then fold bottom and top.

The Roll (the ones I like to do with bananas, because it looks cute and it’s easier):

Spread filling over worse side of crepe leaving a slight edge. Roll-up crepe. Depending on filling, serve sliced.

No Fold-Crepe Gateau

Place best side of crepe down. Spread filling over crepe leaving a slight edge. Top with another crepe and cover with filling. Keep repeating for a lovely Gateau.

P.S. If you know any more folding options or any other tips/tricks etc, please share it with me, I would love to try something new!

P.S.S. Folding pictures are randomly found on the internet. They are not mine.
